Magnitude 7.8 quake hits off Russia&#039s Kamchatka: USGS(Reuters) – A impressive earthquake of magnitude 7.eight off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula activated a tsunami warning but the threat has now handed, the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Pacific Tsunami Center reported. The epicenter was west of Attu, the westernmost and major island in the Near Islands group of Alaska’s distant Aleutian Islands.
